How it works
Wander is a tab, not a notification. It is there when you open it and silent when you do not. It never counts how long it has been since the last visit.
What it turns up is a real memory, opened the way any other day opens. There is no separate resurfaced view to get out of, and nothing about the day changes because Wander found it.
The path it takes
Wander looks at the same date in other years before anything else.
If that date is empty it widens to the days around it, then further back. It only ever lands on a day you kept: faded days, doused days, and anything private to someone else are not in the pool.
On this day, then wider
Wander lays out three sections, in this order. On this day first: the same date in other years. Then Around this date, for when that date is quiet. Then More to wander, further back.
A favorite is likelier to show, and so is a place you keep going back to. Favorites and returned-to places rank the list. They do not fill it.
A hearth turns up as itself: the whole run of days, not one photo from it.
What it doesn't do
Wander is a tab you open. Ember sends no notification to get you into it.
It doesn't rank your memories or decide which year was your best.
Nothing turns up from a memory you faded or doused. A memory private to you stays yours: nobody else on the mantel wanders into it.
