Yours to take

Your original files, as many times as you like.

How it works

An export downloads as a zip with a folder for every day. A large mantel comes as more than one zip, split by date. Inside each one: your original photo and video files at the size you uploaded them, and a Markdown file with the story, the asides, the places, and who wrote what. No proprietary format, and no lesser copy.

You can export as many times as you like. Nothing about it is a farewell flow.

Douse, and the 30 days

Dousing takes a memory off the calendar, the map, and everything that draws from them. It stays recoverable for 30 days, and rekindle brings it back inside that window.

You can also remove it for good before the 30 days are up. Either way Ember lists what goes, photos and video included, before you confirm.

Leaving a shared mantel

If one person leaves a shared mantel, whoever stays keeps it as a readable archive they can still export. Nothing you wrote together disappears from under them.

Deleting an account runs on the same 30 days as a douse, and Ember tells you exactly what goes with it before you confirm.

More than one mantel

An account can be on more than one mantel: one with a partner, one with the people you travel with, one of your own. You switch between them. They never share a memory.

Each has its own people, its own calendar, and its own export.

Sign in with a passkey

Ember signs you in with a code sent to your email. You can add a passkey, so a device you already unlock with your face or fingerprint is the key.

The passkey stays on a device you hold. There is no password to remember or reuse.

What it doesn't do

There's no offer to stay on the way out, and no lesser copy of what you kept.

Ember keeps no copy after the 30 days, and your memories aren't used to train anything.
