# Where it happened

Your memories on a map, and the places you keep going back to.

## How it works

Where is the map of your own mantel. Every memory with a location sits on it, and opening one opens the day.

A memory only has a place because a photo carried one or because somebody typed it. Ember never reads your location, and there is nothing to check into.

## Naming a place on one day

**Label.** Your own name for a place, on this memory only.

A place can carry a label: your name for it, rather than the one on the map. The bench, the good taco truck, the house with the dog. It sits on that memory and reads back the way you would say it.

Labelling and saving are separate. A label stays on the one day unless you also tick save, which is what puts it in Your places for next time.

A day that moved around can hold more than one place, with one of them marked primary. The primary is the one the card and the map use.

## Your places

**Your places.** The places you name once and pick again.

Name a place once and it is kept for next time, so the coffee place you go to every Sunday is one tap rather than a search.

Every memory also keeps its own copy of where it happened. Rename a saved place, or delete it entirely, and the days that already happened there still say where you actually were.

## What it doesn't do

Ember doesn't track your location. A memory knows a place because a photo carried one, or because you typed it.

There's no check-in, and nothing leaves your mantel.
