# Photos from the people who were there

People who were there can add their photos to one memory, without an Ember account and without joining the mantel.

## How it works

Open a memory and tap From Others. Send the link, or put a card by the door.

They open it and add photos. You choose whether they can see what other people added, or only their own.

Uploads stay open for at most a day, and you can pause them or close them early. What they add sits on that memory with their name on it, and anyone who can edit the day can take a photo off.

## A link or a short code

**The link.** Send a link, or put a short code on a card.

The link opens that memory. If a printed card is easier than a link, the short code does the same job. You can change the link, and you can lock a phone that shouldn't add any more.

## On one memory only

**Contributors.** They add to one day without joining the mantel.

They can give a nickname. Ember remembers that phone while uploads are open, so the same person can come back.

After they add something, Ember may offer a way to start a mantel of their own, separate from yours.

## When the window ends

**After uploads close.** The photos stay, and they can download their own for 7 days.

When uploads close, the photos stay on the memory. For 7 days they can still open the link to look at what they added and download it.

## What it doesn't do

There is no public gallery, and nobody finds your mantel from outside.

What they add is only on that one memory.
